Understand the difference between güzel ev, kahve fincanı and evin kapısı
Goal: Describe a noun, connect two nouns and choose the correct structure in everyday Turkish.

Three different relationships

Ask one question: Does the first word describe the noun? Use an adjective phrase. Does one noun belong or relate to another noun? Use a noun compound.

Güzel Ev, Mavi Çanta

The adjective comes before the noun and does not change

No agreement: güzel evgüzel evler. The adjective stays the same; only the noun takes the plural ending.

A practical order

After a number, keep the noun singular: iki kitap, not iki kitaplar.

Word order changes the job of the adjective

The adjective is inside a noun phrase.
Ev güzel.The house is beautiful.

The adjective completes a sentence.

Speaking tip: Use Nasıl bir...? to ask for a description: “Nasıl bir ev?” — “Küçük ama güzel bir ev.”

Important: The first noun has no genitive ending. kahve fincanı, not kahvenin fincanı, when you mean a type of cup.

Use two endings when the owner is specific
owner + -(n)ın/in/un/ün+owned + (s)ı/i/u/ü=evin kapısı

With pronouns: benim evim, senin telefonun, onun arabası, bizim öğretmenimiz. The second noun agrees with the owner.
