Describe people, places and things with natural adjective phrases
Goal: Place adjectives correctly, combine several descriptions and use adjective phrases in everyday Turkish.
One simple pattern
adjective+noun=güzel ev
uzun yollong road

Core Rule
Sıfat Değişmez
The adjective stays the same; the noun carries plural or case endings
güzel eva beautiful house
güzel evlerbeautiful houses
güzel evdein the beautiful house
güzel evlerdenfrom the beautiful houses
No agreement: Do not add plural or case endings to the adjective. Say eski kitaplar, not eskiler kitaplar.
Useful distinction: sıcak kahve is adjective + noun. kahve fincanı is noun + noun and belongs in Lesson 43.

After a number, keep the noun singular: iki kitap, not iki kitaplar.

Güzel Ev ve Ev Güzel
Word order changes the job of the adjective
güzel eva beautiful house
The adjective is inside a noun phrase.
Ev güzel.The house is beautiful.
The adjective completes a sentence.

Speaking tip: Ask Nasıl bir…? for a description: “Nasıl bir ev?” — “Küçük ama aydınlık bir ev.”

Find adjective phrases in a natural description
Geçen ay sakin ve yeşil bir mahalleye taşındım. Mahallem şehir merkezine yakın ama oldukça sessiz. Evimizin karşısında küçük bir park, parkın yanında da yeni bir kafe var.
Kafe aydınlık ve ferah bir yer. İçeride rahat koltuklar, yuvarlak masalar ve büyük pencereler var. Sabahları taze kahve ve sıcak sandviç satıyorlar. Çalışanlar da çok güler yüzlü.
Sokağımız biraz dar fakat temiz. Köşede eski bir fırın var. Fırının ekmeği çok lezzetli. Bu yeni mahallede en sevdiğim şey sakin atmosfer ve yardımsever insanlar.
