Miş’li Geçmiş Zaman
Reported / inferred past · -mış / -miş / -muş / -müş
Goal: Talk about past events you did not directly witness, report information you learned later, make inferences from evidence and react with surprise.
The central idea
Ali geldi.I saw it / I know it directly: Ali came.
Ali gelmiş.I heard it, learned it later, or just discovered: Apparently Ali came.
-miş does not simply mean “apparently.” Its exact English translation changes with context: “I heard…”, “apparently…”, “it seems…”, or a surprised discovery.
Three main uses
ReportedAyşe evlenmiş. — I heard Ayşe got married.
InferredYağmur yağmış. — It seems it rained.
DiscoveredAnahtar buradaymış! — Oh, the key was here!

Look at the last vowel of the verb stem

Why “apparently I…”? You can discover something about yourself later: Dün koltukta uyumuşum. “Apparently I fell asleep on the sofa yesterday.”

The question particle is always written separately. The personal ending moves onto it: gitmiş misin?
