Sentence Building Lab
Goal: Turn familiar words into complete Turkish sentences, then expand, change and use those sentences without translating every word from English.

Understanding is not the same as building
You may understand Bugün evde Türkçe çalışıyorum immediately but still find it difficult to create it alone. This is normal. Build the sentence in small blocks instead of searching for the whole sentence at once.
Ask four questions: Who? → When? → Where? → What is happening?

A safe beginner sentence map

Ben + bugün + evde + Türkçe + çalışıyorum.
I am studying Turkish at home today.
Ece + şimdi + kafede + kahve + içiyor.
Ece is drinking coffee at the café now.
Biz + akşam + parkta + yürüyoruz.
We are walking in the park in the evening.
Important: Turkish word order can change for emphasis, but this map is a clear and natural starting point. Keep the conjugated verb near the end.

Who or what is someone?
Ben öğrenciyim.

Description and location use the same idea
DESCRIPTION
Ben mutluyum.
I am happy.
Onlar yorgunlar.
They are tired.
LOCATION
Sen evdesin.
You are at home.
Biz okuldayız.
We are at school.
Do not add olmak in simple present identity sentences.
“I am a student” → Ben öğrenciyim. Not: Ben öğrenci oluyorum.

Start with the smallest complete sentence
Çalışıyorum. — I am working/studying.
Evde çalışıyorum. — I am studying at home.
Bugün evde çalışıyorum. — I am studying at home today.
Bugün evde Türkçe çalışıyorum. — I am studying Turkish at home today.

The subject can disappear
The ending already tells us who is doing the action.
Ben Türkçe öğreniyorum.
Türkçe öğreniyorum. — both are correct
Biz kahve içiyoruz.
Kahve içiyoruz. — both are correct
Keep the subject when it is new, important or unclear. Do not remove names: Ece çalışıyor.

Identity and description sentences

Two different negatives:
Action verb → -ma/-me: çalışmıyorum
Noun/adjective/location → değil: öğrenci değilim

Question words take the missing position
Mina evde çalışıyor.
Mina nerede çalışıyor?
Mina Türkçe öğreniyor.
Mina ne öğreniyor?
Mina bugün çalışıyor.
Mina ne zaman çalışıyor?
Do not add mı/mi to a question that already has ne, nerede, kim, nasıl, neden or ne zaman.

Daniel bugün evde. Saat dokuz ve Türkçe dersi başlıyor. Daniel hazır ama biraz yorgun.
Öğretmen önce kolay bir soru soruyor: “Neredesin?” Daniel “Evde” diyor. Öğretmen, “Tam cümle, lütfen,” diyor. Daniel tekrar cevap veriyor: “Ben evdeyim.”
Sonra öğretmen soruyor: “Şimdi ne yapıyorsun?” Daniel önce düşünüyor. Sonra cümleyi küçük parçalarla kuruyor: ben + şimdi + evde + Türkçe + öğreniyorum. “Ben şimdi evde Türkçe öğreniyorum,” diyor.
Dersin sonunda Daniel üç yeni cümle yazıyor. Cümle kurmak hâlâ biraz zor ama şimdi daha kolay.

Teacher routine: Give the learner five seconds to build silently. If they are stuck, ask only one block question at a time: Kim? Ne zaman? Nerede? Ne yapıyor? Accept a short correct sentence first, then ask for one extra detail.
